Hello! I'm Maria, from the beautiful Philippines. I was born in Caloocan City, but I have spent most of my life in my father’s hometown, Iloilo City. Located in the heart of the Philippines, it’s known as the "City of Love" and for its rich history, with Spanish colonial churches and ancient homes. Of course, it’s also famous for its stunning beaches. My cultural heritage is a blend of Filipino and Spanish, thanks to my mother's Spanish descent.
こんにちは！私は美しい国、フィリピン出身のマリアです。生まれはカローカン市ですが、人生のほとんどを父の故郷であるイロイロ市で過ごしてきました。その都市はフィリピンの中心に位置し、スペイン植民地時代の教会や古民家など、豊かな歴史を持つことから「愛の街」として知られています。さらに素晴らしいビーチがあることでも有名です。私の文化的遺産は、スペイン系の母のおかげで、フィリピンとスペインの良いところがブレンドされていることです！


Iloilo is a transportation hub for travelers en route to Boracay, known for its pristine powdery white sand beaches.
イロイロは、ボラカイ島へ向かう旅行者の交通の要所で、手つかずのパウダースノーのような白砂のビーチで知られています。

I initially pursued pre-medical studies. However, my family’s construction business sparked my interest in civil engineering, and I ultimately earned a degree in that field. I also developed a passion for journalism while serving as the editor-in-chief of the university's English publication.
私は元々、医学部進学を目指していました。しかし実家が建設業を営んでいたことから土木工学に興味を持ち、最終的にその分野で学位を取得しました。また、大学の英語出版物の編集長を務めているうちに、報道への情熱も芽生えました。

Sure enough, I helped run my family’s construction business after graduation. My current role as an English tutor seems oddly related – I mean, who would have thought that from building construction to sentence construction, I would end up here? It’s about building something meaningful. 
On the side, I also work as a Xero specialist for American companies, helping them manage their finances.
案の定、卒業後は家業を手伝うことになりました。そして、今わたしが英語講師をしているのは、ちょっと不思議な縁があるようです。つまり、ビルの建設から文の作成まで、私がここにたどり着くなんて誰が想像したでしょうか？何か”意味のあるもの”を作り上げているということです。その傍ら、アメリカ企業の財務管理をサポートするゼロのスペシャリストとしても働いています。

In my free time, I do ballpoint pen art. I often sketch portraits of my favorite celebrities as well as family and friends and give these pieces as gifts to them. As a self-taught artist, I’ve created my own unique style and strokes outside the confines of formal art education. Originality is my guiding principle, and I prefer to break free from traditional artistic norms. When it comes to art, my motto is simple: "No rules, just tools.”
休みの日にはボールペンアートを楽しんでいます。好きな有名人や家族、友人の似顔絵をスケッチし、プレゼントすることも多いです。独学のアーティストとして、私は正式な美術教育の枠にとらわれず、独自のスタイルを作り上げてきました。独創性が私の指針なので、伝統的なルールを破ってもいいと思っています。
芸術に関して言えば、 "そこにルールはない、ただ道具があるだけ"これが私のモットーです。

I've had a deep love for karate since I was in my teens, and I began my formal training in a dojo at that time. I love donning my favorite dojo headband from my collection and refining my skills on my rooftop – whether mounting a speedball on a stand or hanging it in the air to perfect my roundhouse kick.
私は10代の頃から空手を深く愛しており、その頃から道場で正式な稽古を始めました。コレクションしているお気に入りの道着を着て、屋上で技を磨くのが大好きです。スピードボールを台に取り付けたり、空中に吊るして回し蹴りを完璧にするトレーニングも欠かしません！

Apart from being a voracious reader, I’m also a self-published author who offers my personally designed sketchbooks on Amazon under a pseudonym. I’m currently writing my own memoir, full of personal growth and reflection. My goal is to publish it next year. I can’t wait!
読書も好きなことのひとつですが、同時に、自費出版作家でもあります。個人的にデザインしたスケッチブックをペンネームでアマゾンで販売しているんです。現在、自分の成長と内省を余すことなく記した回顧録を執筆中です。目標は来年出版すること。待ち遠しいです！
