Hello, I’m Gabriele, nice to meet you!
こんにちは、私はガブリエルです！

I was lucky enough to be born into an international family, with relatives all over the world. My 2 nationalities are German and Italian, and I was raised bilingually, so it was somewhat easier for me to add a third language, English, and reach certified native-level proficiency.
幸運にも私は国際的な家庭に生まれ、世界中に親戚がいます。私はドイツとイタリアの二重国籍を取得しており、それぞれの言語を話すバイリンガルな環境で育ったので、第3の言語である英語をネイティブレベルまで上達させるのは、自分にとっては容易な道のりでした。

Having experienced different cultures and languages since my childhood, I went on to study international relations at university, because I wanted to make sure I would be able to interact with people from different countries later on in my professional life as well.
子どもの頃から異文化や異言語を体験してきた私は、将来社会人になった後も、さまざまな国の人々と交流できるようになりたいと思い、大学で国際関係学を専攻しました。

I have always had a passion for studying things in detail and explaining what I learned to others: that’s why I started working as a teacher back in 2018. So far I have had the honor of working with American, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Pakistani, Thai, Vietnamese and Middle Eastern students, teaching mostly English, but also a bit of German, Italian and electronic music production.
私は常に物事を詳しく研究し調べ、そこで得た知識を他者に説明することに情熱を持っていました。それが2018年に教師として働き始めた理由です。これまでのところ、アメリカ、中国、インド、イタリア、日本、パキスタン、タイ、ベトナム、中東の生徒たちと交流する機会に恵まれ、主に英語を教えていますが、他にもドイツ語、イタリア語、電子音楽制作も少し教えています。

Yes, you got that right: electronic music! I have studied the piano for many years as a child, later switching to synthesizers and finally to music production. I have a monetized YouTube channel where I publish live performances, but also advanced music production tutorials in English.
そう、電子音楽といえば！私は子どもの頃からピアノを習い、その後シンセサイザーに転向し、最終的には音楽制作を始めました。私のYouTubeチャンネルでは、ライブ演奏のほか、高度な音楽制作についての動画を英語で公開しています。

My other big passion is Japan. I spent 4 months in Fukuoka back in 2016 to study Japanese, and ever since coming back to Europe, I have been making sure to consume at least 1 hour of Japanese content a day, be it a TV show, a drama series, an anime or even a podcast - in short: passive learning.
私がもうひとつ熱中していることといえば「日本」についてです。2016年に日本語を勉強するために福岡に4ヶ月間滞在し、ヨーロッパに戻ってからは、テレビ番組やドラマ、アニメ、ポッドキャストなど、1日に最低1時間は日本語のコンテンツを視聴するようにしています。

Most European languages have a common ancestor in Latin, therefore they share many similarities; for instance, the word 統合 is “integration” in English, “Integration” in German, “integrazione” in Italian, “intégration” in French and “integración” in Spanish. How convenient!
例えば、「統合」という言葉は、英語では "integration"、ドイツ語では "Integration"、イタリア語では "integrazione"、フランス語では "intégration"、スペイン語では "integración "となる。なんて便利なんでしょう！

That’s why English came easy to me; Japanese, on the other hand, is a beast of its own! No shared words, no common grammar, sentences are structured differently, too… It’s not just a different language: you have to think in a different way.
なので冒頭でお話した「英語学習が容易だった」という話は、ここに理由があります。一方、日本語はまったくの別物です！共通する単語がない、共通する文法がない、文の構成も違う......単に言語が違うだけでなく、違う方法で考えなければならないのです。

As a European person studying Japanese, I can really understand how difficult it must be for a Japanese person to study English; that’s why I believe I can offer you a unique perspective, and sometimes help you to really understand where the deeper meaning of an English word or expression lies by using its Japanese equivalent.
日本語を勉強しているヨーロッパ人として、日本人が英語を勉強することがいかに難しいかよく理解できます。だからこそ、私は皆さんにユニークな視点で知識を提供し、時には英語の単語や表現の深い意味を日本語で理解する手助けができると信じています。

For instance, as the saying goes: “every black cloud has a silver lining”. Now, I could explain to you that we use this expression to emphasize that every difficult or unpleasant situation has some advantage, but I could also refer you to 不幸中の幸い, which more or less carries the same meaning.
たとえば、こんなことわざがあります：「どんな黒い雲にも銀の裏地がある」
どんな困難な状況や不愉快な状況にも、何らかの利点があることを強調するために用いられることわざですが、日本語では「不幸中の幸い」が同じような意味を持ちますよね。
