Hello, everyone. I am Recel. I am here to tell you a bit about myself and my journey of learning and teaching English!
みなさん、こんにちは！私はRecelといいます。今回は私のこと、英語を学び、教えるようになるまでの経緯について少しお話させてください！

I am from the Philippines, a beautiful country in Southeast Asia with over 7,000 islands. I grew up in a small town in Cotabato province, where people farm rice, rubber trees, and bananas. Now, I live in Kidapawan City, the capital of Cotabato and the gateway to Mount Apo, the highest mountain in the Philippines.
私は、7,000以上の島々からなる東南アジアの美しい国、フィリピンのコタバト州という小さな町で育ちました。そこでは米、ゴムの木、バナナを栽培しています。今は、州都であり、フィリピン最高峰のアポ山の玄関口であるキダパワン市という場所に住んでいます。

I studied accounting at a catholic private school in Kidapawan City, where I learned a lot and made many friends. However, I discovered my passion for teaching and helping others learn, so I decided to become an ESL teacher.
私はキダパワン市にある私立学校で会計学を学び、多くの友人と青春時代を過ごしました。さらに教えること、誰かの学びをサポートすることに魅力を感じ、ESL講師になることを決意しました。

I have been working as an ESL teacher for almost 6 years now, and I love it. I have the opportunity to learn more about the world and its diversity. I have taught students from different countries, such as China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. I have learned about their culture, traditions, food, and history, and I have also shared mine with them.
講師として働き始めてもうすぐ6年になりますが、自分の知らない世界の事、その多様性について学べるこの仕事が大好きです。これまでに中国、日本、韓国、ベトナム、タイなど、さまざまな国の生徒を教え、彼らの文化、伝統、食べ物、歴史について学び、私も彼らと分かち合ってきました。

What's more, I have more flexibility and convenience as an ESL teacher, because I can work at the comfort of my home. I teach online, using my computer and the internet. I can also save time and money, because I don't have to commute or dress up.
さらに、居心地の良い自宅で仕事ができる点に利便性を感じています。パソコンとインターネットを使ってオンラインで生徒とすぐに繋がれますし、通勤時間を気にしたり、毎日着る服に悩む必要がないので時間とお金も節約できます。

I have a passion for watching shows that both entertain and educate me. I learn from documentaries, feel with drama, and escape with anime. I cherish my friends and family, who fill my life with joy and support. We enjoy each other's company, express ourselves, and make lasting memories. I also adore nature, which soothes and inspires me. I marvel at its beauty and diversity and feel a connection to it.
私は楽しさと学びの両方を与えてくれる番組が大好きです。ドキュメンタリーで学び、ドラマに心動かされ、そして、アニメにも夢中になります。。また私は、人生を喜びで満たしてくれ、困った時には支えてくれる友人や家族を大切にしています。互いに一緒にいる時間を楽しみ、飾らずありのままで接し、心に残る思い出を作る。さらに、癒しを与え、時に勇気づけてくれる自然も大好きです。その美しさと多様性に感銘し、自然とのつながりを感じています。

I have a little secret to share with you. I grew up in a small village where books were scarce and reading was not a habit. Even though many people in my country are fluent in English, I felt like an outsider who could not join their conversations. English was the language of instruction at school, but I struggled to speak, write, and understand it. 
ちょっとした秘密をお伝えすると、私は読書の習慣がない小さな村で育ちました。私の国では多くの人が英語を流暢に話すにもかかわらず、私は会話についていけない事で疎外感を感じていた時期もありました。学校では英語で授業を受けていましたが英語を習得するのにとても苦労しました。

My vocabulary was limited, and my self-expression was poor. When I turned 21, I made a bold decision to teach English online. I was lucky to find a company that hired me to teach young kids who did not mind my mistakes, but I wanted to challenge myself more. I switched to other companies that gave me opportunities to teach more advanced learners, and I learned a lot from them. I realized that learning English, or anything else, is possible at any age, as long as you have the passion and the perseverance.
語彙が少なく、表現力も乏しかった私ですが、21歳の時に思い切ってオンラインで英語を教える決心をしました。幸運にも、子供達に英語を教える機会を得ました。その後、さらに挑戦したいと思い、より上級の英語学習者を指導する会社に転職し、そこで多くのことを学びました。英語でも何でも、情熱と忍耐さえあれば、何歳になっても学ぶことは可能なのだと実感しました。
