- Hello, my name is Kevin Barry. I am, among many other things, a freelance writer. I have been involved in teaching in some way for over 25 years. Formally, I went through Montessori teacher training, and was a lead teacher for the Upper and Lower Elementary classes of Central Montessori School, in my home town of Richmond, Virginia. This allowed me to teach not only English, but many other subjects I enjoy, including history and culture, math, physical science, biology and even art. I am moderately conversational in Spanish and German, and I have been learning Japanese for some time. Sumimasen, watashi wa mada nihongo wo manandeimasu!
Even though my university degree is in Sports Medicine, I began learning work as a carpenter when I was seven years old, and much of my life and hobbies revolve around this. I have restored many historic homes in Richmond, and I build furniture as well. Leather work, tailoring clothes, stained glass work, wood carving and blacksmithing are just a few of my passions. I have taught classes in all of these, to both children and adults. Ever since I was a child, I have loved traditional Japanese culture, especially architecture and art, and I hope someday to visit Japan and go exploring.

- 英語を含め、数学、生物学など様々な教科を教えてきたベテラン講師です。その経験によって、レクチャー型のレッスンではなく生徒参加型のレッスンを提供するスキルがとても高いです。日本語を含め、他の言語も自身で学習しており、英語にあって日本語に無い文法ルールなどふまえた説明をしてくれるのでとても分かりやすいです。手で何かを作ることが大好きで、アートギャラリーにも出展したことがあるそうです。
