Have you heard about the latest news on North Korea?
#miss

I've heard about the country's third nuclear test which excecuted last month. And North Korea launched the satellite a month earlier. It is said that the satellite actually might be a missile. It seems like that young North Korean leader Kim Joung Un follows in his father's footsteps. I think they have hostility to the neighboring countries including Japan and U.S.

I think so, too. The hostility is what the US feels threatened by, because North Korea refuses to be reasoned with. There was hope that we could communicate with them after Kim Jong Il died, but as you said, Kim Jong Un seems to be continuing his father's agenda.

I agree with you. I also hoped that some of the kidnapped Japanese citizens be released after Kim John Un was inagurated. But this issue remains nowhere in sight. As you might know,North Korea government kidnapped many Japanese during the 70s and 80s. One of the victims was a young junior high school girl! I feel deep sorrow at her parent's greaf that their beloved daughter was taken away suddenly.

I actually wasn't aware that the North Korean government had kidnapped so many Japanese citizens! That's very disheartening, and I really hope that they are all able to be rescued someday.

I really think so. The families of the victims hope that they come home as soon as possible. Japan and Korea must got along with one another. As neighbors,we share many cultural similarities. And there are ethnic similarities between us. Many Korean immigrants live in Japan. Actually, my husband's grandmother was Korean. However North Korea has been stiffening her attitude since the Korean War.

That's because they have different political and government system. One uphold democracy the other one is pro-communism. What is your idea about it?

Yes, North Korea remains under a communist dictatorship,no stranger to causing international alarm such actions as nuclear tests and the missile launch. I think it is necessary for us to ask China for help to reform the country. Because China has strong influence for North Korea. Japan, US and other Asian countries cooperate with China for stopping North Korea's tyranny. So we have to improve relationship with China at first.

What do you think is one of the first steps towards improving the relationship between Japan and China?

I think the most important key is international exchange. Many Chinese travel to Japan, and so do many Japanese. And Japanese pop culture, such as manga, has gained popularity widely even in China. This trend has broken the stereotypical image of each countries. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe seems to want to be belligerent to neighboring countries. But I think friendship is more important than hostility with regard to international problems.
