調子が悪く病院に行くときには自分の症状に合った診療科を選択することが重要です。また大病を患う前に、予防として健康診断医に定期的に通うことも病院の大きな活用方法なのではないでしょうか。

A nurse is smiling at a patient in the sick-room. I guess the patient had a surgery and it was successful. They are talking about the day when he will leave the hospital.

A nurse and patient are smiling in the hospital room. It looks like the patient had a successful operation. She is telling him that he can go home soon.

The patient does seem to be very happy and comfortable. I see that the monitoring equipment in the background is currently not in use, so the patient must be close to going home.

That's good! When I was thirty years old, I was hospitalized because my leg was broken. I ended up staying there for about a month or so. I missed my normal life very much then. Have you ever been hospitalized?

That's a good sign. I had to stay in hospital, with a broken leg, when I was thirty. I was there for a whole month and missed my regular life very much. Have you ever had to stay in hospital?

Yes I was, only for a few days. I had an operation on my knee after I damaged my ligaments. I do not enjoy being in a hospital for more than two days.

If we get injured, we can get it over sooner or later. However, it's very serious in case we get severe sickness such as, diabetes, heart diseases and cancers. Now that I'm 54 years old, I have concerned about my health lately. So I try to stay away from eating salty, oily, and sugary foods. Do you do anything good for your health?

Well I am 52 years old so I also watch what I eat. I did have a very mild stroke a few years ago, I changed my diet and started to walk every evening and that has kept me healthy. I also umpire cricket on weekends. What do you do to stay fit and healthy?

Sometimes I feel I don't exercise enough, so I try to walk when I have free time. I find walking is one of the best ways to keep me in a good condition. However, there is one bad thing I can't quit. It's drinking. I know it's not good for my health, but I just can't seem to stop it. Don't you have any bad habits which you can't stop?

Yes, I used to smoke heavily before. About one or two packs a day. It was a very bad habit. I quit after my stroke but the thing I cannot stop doing is drinking as well. I like drinking alcohol with my meals because it enhances the flavor. Do you drink for the same reason?

I was a chain smoker in my twentieth, but I quit smoking when I was thirty-five years old. It was hard and needed painstaking efforts to stop it, but fortunately I could do it. Smoking is an extremely bad habit which causes various diseases. As you say, alcohol is not always bad if we drink it moderately. Hmm..,I'm in the mood for red wine tonight.
