森の写真描写をしてみよう

Describe a picture of forests

Please describe this picture.

A female senior citizen is walking with a parasol. She is wearing pants and a jacket, and has a black handbag in her right hand.

A female senior citizen is walking with a parasol. She is wearing pants and a jacket, and has a black handbag in her right hand.

1. Your original expression is grammatically correct. This is just an alternative: "on her right arm/ shoulder". "On" is used when the bag's strap is slung.
Okay, good. Thank you for describing this picture. You did well. How do you know she is a senior citizen?

I imagined it from the way she stood. Her back looks a little rounded. She also wears clothes that Japanese women of middle age or older prefer.

1. Please don't mix the Tenses. Use the Present Tense consistently because you used it the first time.
Those are good observations. Where is the woman walking? Can you now describe what is surrounding her?

Thank you.
Let me describe her surroundings.
She is walking on a paved road.
Trees are planted at equal intervals on both sides of the path, and young buds are sprouting.
The season seems to be spring.
The location seems to be the road to a famous garden.

1. "Road" isn't the appropriate expression in this context. It refers to a wide way that connects cities and towns.
2. "Appear" is better than "seem" because there's a focus on appearance. Also, "seem" tends to be weaker or less sure.
3. You don't need to repeat the same word; just use a Synonym.
4. "Road" isn't the appropriate expression in this context. It refers to a wide way that connects cities and towns.
  • get a tan(日焼けする)
  • protect(守る)
  • on one's way(~へ行く途中)
  • grow(育つ、生える)
  • hold(持つ)
  • She always carries an umbrella in order not to get a tan.(彼女は日焼けをしないためにいつも傘を持ち歩いています。)
  • The umbrella protects her skin from the sunshine.(傘が日差しから肌を守ってくれます。)
  • She is on her way to the station.(駅に行く途中です。)
  • There are trees growing along the street.(道に沿って木が生えている。)
  • She is walking in the street, holding her bag in her right hand.(鞄を右手にさげて道を歩いています。)
