Please tell me about your favorite museum.

To be honest, It's hard for me to decide my favorite one. It is because I often visit museums depending on what kind of exhibitions they hold at that time. Every museum is so memorable to me regarding the exhibits. Regardless of popularity or the scale of the exhibitions, I visit museums or galleries once I become curious, or if they meet my curiosity. Besides, I personally like to observe how the artworks were displayed in the showcases.

I really appreciate your view on art. What type of artwork do you enjoy the most? Is it paintings, sculptures, or something else, and why?

I basically enjoy paintings because it differs from the printed materials. For example, you can see the layers of oil paints, which make the artworks sterical. I enjoy sculptures as well since I like Greek mythology. It is always delightful when I find references through artworks. Whether it is ancient or contemporary, I appreciate the creators who continuously make arts.

I agree with you, there are my favorite types of artwork as well. Do you perhaps have a favorite painting or a painter?

I actually have two favorite painters, Alphonse Mucha and Yoshitoshi Tsukioka. Mucha is a well-known artist who brought a huge influence on Art Nouveau. I sometimes get inspiration from his art style. Yoshitoshi Tsukioka is a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, and I like his compositions of the artworks, which are visually shocking yet dynamic. They are my personal favorite; however, I would like to eliminate my bias when seeing the arts.

You make an interesting point. Do you try to continualy learn about new art styles to eliminate your bias?

Yes, I do. I usually try to find relevances and differences even if I'm not familiar with art styles. Moreover, I often take memos when I discover something during the exhibitions so that I can research more details later. I feel that it isn't enough to eliminate my bias, but at least I learn through the process and leave impressions in my memory.

You are really dedicated to art. Is it just your hobby, or is it somehow related to your occupation?

I'm going to study art history in the UK this year. Honestly, it wasn't my major in university, but I took several lectures that are relevant to art history, which stimulated my curiosity and willingness to pursue the field. Culture and history need successors to carry down to the next generation. I hope I'll be able to support such fields in the future.
