Seems like your company is doing quite well! Have you expanded outside Japan? What other beverages are popular sellers?
#miss

No, we operates only in Japan. We want to ensure that we provide quality foods and services to our customers, if we expand rapidly, there must be some sacrifices. In order to keep that, we choose to grow in a steady way which is focus on the domestic market so there's so expansion plan outside Japan at this moment.
Besides coffee latte, cappuccino is also very popular in our store, we can sell 30 cups per store everyday. And our new introduced fresh juice are also very popular because more and more people wanted to live healthy.

That sounds really good. And which pastries and cakes, or food in general, are your most popular items?
#miss

The cheese cake and almond croissant are the best sellers in our food category. We change the food menu every quarter, if the selling of a particular item is not good, we replace it with new items, but these 2 items we have sold for more then 8 years now, and they are still very popular.

How do you come up with the ideas about what the new product should be? Is there someone who does the research or something, or can anyone make suggestions? Do you maybe do some surveys and polls with your customers to find out what they might like?
#miss

It all depends on our talent food team, they have deep knowledge about making food and hey are very creative. I also believe that they have worked very hard and keep their sensitivity on food. They visit the food exhibitions around the world and try to come up with the new ideas to develop new food items. And of course we monitor the selling situation and check the preferences of our customers. For example, we found our customers tend to order breads in the morning and cakes in the afternoon, so we adjust our display.

That is very interesting. I have always wondered how and why supermarkets adjust their layout. Can you give any more examples of display adjustment?
#miss

Supermarkets adjust their layout in order to bring some excitements in the customer's shopping experience. This helps customers to notice that there are something new here and not feel boring during their shopping. But the layout usually don't change a lot, they have particular principles to follow, ex: they usually put the fresh fruits and vegetables near the entrance, and the frozen food at then end of the route.
