How would you describe Japanese people?

I wonder why many Japanese people like telling stingy stories to others. Such behavior must derive from their humility. However, they should hesitate to do that toward foreigners with a different context because it causes misunderstandings. I often feel that tutors think I am always worried about money, and my criteria to decide something is money. I figured out the reasons. Other Japanese are implanting wrong ideas in them. They pretend to be poorer than necessary. On the other hand, Chinese people tend to show themselves better. That tendency is sometimes annoying but mostly comfortable.

1. Use "portray" here which is defined as - to describe (someone or something) in a particular way.
I think I understand what you mean, but I think it may be an Asian trait in general. For example, we like to boast about snagging the cheapest deals or getting something for the lowest price, because it's like winning. Is that what you mean? Or is the behavior different for the Japanese?

The example doesn't give stingy images but positive ones because that doesn't accompany enduring. Japanese tell others how they endure or are patient by telling stingy stories. For example, they say they are being patient by not getting in a taxi or saving money. Their lamentation is too small-scale. I remembered a cheap show called "Oshin." The show was top-rated in Japan and some countries. Oshin is the name of a girl born in an impoverished rural family. That is the story of a poor girl who succeeds because of her hard work and patience. That matched Japanese values.

1. You can use "your" here to be specific.
2. Use "involve" here which is defined as - have or include (something) as a necessary or integral part or result.
3. Use the adverb "just" here which is defined as - very recently; in the immediate past; only now.
4. In this case, use the pronoun "it" here.
5. Use "a" here since this is one of such stories.
I see. So it seems that the Japanese put too much importance on persevering and denying one's self pleasures, to improve their image. Is that the correct understanding? Why do you think that is?

You are right. Patience, hard work, and tenacity are the Japanese core values. Studies have been made to clarify the reasons. Various factors like climate, history, religion, and food have been intersected. Rice farming requires cooperation with others and steady effort. Hard work used to bore fruit quickly. People believe such values, somewhat not luck, led them to success.
