I am a PhD literature student at UC San Diego and also a teaching assistant for a writing course.
自己紹介
My name is Shannon and I am currently a PhD graduate student at the University of California, San Diego who is studying comparative literature. This means that I am required to study literature in three different languages, which for me are Japanese, Portuguese, and English. I have taken Japanese for about 4 years and studied abroad at Kansai Gaidai University. Throughout my studies, I have participated in many conversation exchange programs with Japanese speakers. Therefore, I am very familiar with common mistakes and difficulties that Japanese speakers have with English. I also have experience teaching English as a second language. Before beginning graduate school, I worked for one year in Brazil as a Fulbright English teaching assistant and six months at a private language school in Massachusetts. For the past year, I have been working as a teaching assistant at UC San Diego for a freshmen academic writing course. I am a friendly, easy-going, and energetic person who loves speaking with and meeting people from other countries. Some of my other interests include running, cooking, and traveling. I look forward to helping you improve your English!
